A quick note before we begin: Wander Woofs didn’t start as a business idea. It started as a real travel problem… and a tiny Yorkie who changed everything.
We're Vick & Chilli, the heart and souls behind Wander Woofs
Hi, I’m Vick Fichtner, founder of Wander Woofs, travel expert, photographer, lifelong dog lover (I grew up with a rescue farm where we had over 40 dogs), and the human behind Chilli the Yorkie – the original Woofer.
Before creating Wander Woofs, I spent years designing thoughtful travel experiences across Spain and Mediterranean Europe through my company Experience Wanderlust Boutique Travel Services.
That background shaped the way we approach pet-friendly travel today: with real destination knowledge, practical planning, and a deep understanding of what travelers actually need when exploring with their dogs.
Wander Woofs was born from a very real travel problem: what do you do with your dog when the place you want to visit is not dog-friendly?
A museum, a historic monument, a restaurant, a guided tour, a cultural landmark – many of the places that make a trip special are not designed with paws in mind. And leaving your dog alone at the hotel is often not allowed, not ideal, and definitely not the kind of memory anyone wants from a holiday.
That is why we created Wander Woofs: to help travelers enjoy Spain and Europe with more freedom, less stress, and better care for their dogs.
Today, Wander Woofs combines tourist-focused dog sitting with pet-friendly travel planning, helping dog parents organize smoother trips, easier logistics, and safe care when their dogs cannot join them inside.
Chilli, the original Woofer
Chilli will always be the original Wander Woofer: the tiny Yorkie who inspired the way I think about traveling with dogs, and the promise we make to pet parents.
He was my co-pilot through moves, borders, new cities, hotel rooms, long walks, and all those travel moments when having a dog by your side makes everything more complicated – and infinitely more meaningful.
Wander Woofs was born from that experience. I knew what it felt like to stand in front of a museum, restaurant, historic site, or cultural landmark and suddenly realize that the place I wanted to visit was not made for travelers with dogs.
That is why Chilli is, and will always be, at the heart of Wander Woofs. He reminds us that dogs are not an inconvenience in a travel plan. They are part of the story.
And our job is to make that story easier, safer, and happier for every traveler who explores Spain and Europe with their dog.
